MOMO Running

about.

In this project, I was responsible for building MOMO Running’s entire design ecosystem from the ground up — covering brand identity, product design, and the full digital experience. MOMO is a tech start-up that developed a device allowing users to run virtual events. The device integrates with the MOMO App, a running platform focused on virtual races such as marathons and half-marathons.

challenge

I developed the visual identity, designed the wearable hardware (a calf-mounted sensor and a wireless checkpoint), and created the full app interface in close collaboration with the developer. My goal was to ensure coherence between hardware, software, and brand — translating MOMO’s functional precision into a clean, energetic, and consistent design language.

The runners’ interface was designed to stay simple, intuitive, and distraction-free. For this flow, I analysed several existing running and event apps, identified the most effective interaction patterns, and combined them into a streamlined experience tailored to our users’ needs.

For organisers, the app adopts the clarity and structure of a modern banking interface, giving users a sense of reliability and control. The design focuses on transparency, trust, and ease of use, allowing organisers to manage events that involve payments with confidence.

Throughout the process, I worked closely with multiple departments to align the product vision, refine usability, and create a seamless connection between the physical and digital experience. The result is a unified system where every element — from the product to the interface — supports the same idea of motion, clarity, and performance. The start-up is now testing the technology with the CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association).
